Our solution  to the problem of orphans’ living uncared-for on the streets is to establish a farming school that provides shelter, love and structure for children in need, along with intensive training in ways that will teach the students to support themselves for the rest of their lives. The school will give the children a new chance at improving their lives locally and, consequently, the lives of others.

Besides the orphanage, Nour Institute can lend a hand to a chronic problem we have after each rainy season, that is, a mass rural exodus of young farmers to the cities looking for jobs. A rural exodus decreases farming activities and cultural identities, and leads to food insecurity. The ability to stay on their land and farm through all seasons will also help diminish the flow of Africans’ risking their lives on the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean trying to reach Europe.      

Our modest contribution to the rural exodus is primarily hydroponic farming, which can be done almost anywhere and in any season.  A hydroponic facility can create farming jobs for the youths during the dry season and will help maintain food security for the nation.
